Abstract

The study of hadith by Imami scholars, like other products of thought, is influenced by the teachings of other sciences and fields of knowledge. One of the areas that influences the study of hadith is sectarian and theological issues. In the present study, the practical characteristics of the grains were examined using a descriptive-analytical method from the perspective of scholars of the Qom and Baghdad schools, as one of the most influential schools of thought of the Imamiyyah between the third and fifth centuries AH. This study showed that despite the agreement between these two schools in listing practical abahism as a practical characteristic of the grains, the Qomians and Baghdadians disagreed about the intellectual basis of this external practice, namely esotericism. Thus, on the one hand, the scholars of Qom frequently quote from the books of Tafsir al-Batin, and the scholars of Baghdad doubted their teachings and considered them a mixture of truth and falsehood.
